Sakima ‘Mr. Smoothe’ Mullings: Ultimate Contender4 min read

Jamaican boxer Sakima ‘Mr. Smoothe’ Mullings underlined his status as the top boxer in the 2017 junior middleweight Wray and Nephew Contender Series by outclassing Canadian Phil ‘The Assassin’ Rose in the Grand Finale at Mico University last night.
Mullings secured the victory by knocking out the Canadian in the sixth round of the 10-round championship fight to become the first fighter to win the series on two occasions.
Mullings first won the series in 2015 but last night the referee stopped the contest at one minute and eight seconds in the sixth round, a few seconds after he allowed Rose to continue after Mullings had send him tumbling to the canvas.
Apart from taking the junior middleweight title, Mullings won a first prize of $2 million, while Rose took home $500,000.
The third place and fourth place boxers were also presented with cash prizes.
