Ryan Lochte’s 10-Month Suspension Is Finally Over, Ready for 2020 Olympics
Ryan Lochte is ready to get back in the water.
The 32-year-old Olympic swimmer’s 10-month suspension from the USA Swimming national team is officially over.
On Saturday, Lochte celebrated the opportunity to get back into training by dedicating the 2020 Olympics to his newborn son, Caiden.
He also shared a video of himself “jumping into the weekend” and diving off a high board.
In Sept. 2016, Lochte was suspended after he and three swimmers fabricated a story about being robbed at gunpoint following an incident during the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
As a result, he was suspended from the domestic and international USA Swimming national team, 20 hours of community service, access to the training centers or other facilities of the United States Olympic Committee and his monthly stipend, as well as his $100,000 bonus check.
The Olympian welcomed his first baby, son Caiden, with fiancée Kayla Rae Reid on June 8. That same month, Lochte opened up about his suicidal thoughts following the Rio scandal.
