P. Diddy tops Forbes list of highest paid Hip-Hop artistes5 min read

It’s that time of the year when Forbes ranks the highest-paid figures in hip-hop, and for this year’s highest-paid hip-hop artists list, Rapper, Entrepreneur, Sean Combs more popularly known as P. Diddy continues to lead the pack.

Diddy tops the list with $130 million, and although he hasn’t released any new music in the past year, he did launch his Bad Boy Records reunion tour in 2016 — as well as he sold a portion of his Sean Jean clothing company, which earned the mogul an estimated $70 million. Combs recently told Forbes, “I’ve always understood that if I give the customers my best and service them differently, whether music, clothing or vodka, I’ll get a return on my hard work.” Diddy also copped the number 1 slot on Forbes’ wealthiest hip-hop artists of 2017 list earlier this year.

Drake landed right behind Diddy at the No. 2 spot, earning $94 million thanks to his Boy Meets World Tour, music releases (Views, More Life) and partnerships with technology behemoths Apple and Sprint and shoewear brand Nike. JAY Z followed on the list by earning $42 million.

The crop of hip-hop’s wealthiest also includes DJ Khaled who placed 9th with $24 million , Kendrick Lamar who came in sixth with $30 million, and Lil Wayne who was 17th with $15.5 million. Chance the Rapper came in at No. 5 with $33 million, despite releasing his game-changing mixtape Coloring Book for free. Nicki Minaj represents the only female artist in the exclusive group landing at number 16 with $16 million, and Lil Yachty closes out the list as the youngest hip-hop artist with $11.5 million at number 20.
