Mark Kenny defends Magnum Kings & Queen’s6 min read

Mark Kenny the executive producer of the Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall, says suggestions that Japanese artiste Rankin Pumpkin hijacked this year’s competition are unfounded.

At the same time, Kenny has rubbished claims that the outcome of the deejaying competition, particularly on the female side was rigged.

Rankin Pumkin finished second behind Suspense. The Japanese artist’s journey has been a source of much public discourse with many persons sharing the view that she lacked the talent and lyrical prowess to make it to the crown round.

Kenny responded to the suggestion that Rankin Pumkin’s support system made significant financial contributions to her campaign, defending the public voting method.

Kenny said” How would she do that unless she had millions and bought out the voting platform and even in that case, it would be flagged. It’s impossible to do that..”

Rankin Pumkin’s Manager Desmond Harvey spoke with the star and informed them that his artist had strong support in her homeland. He said “ Her family sells cars in Japan and own a car company, so they motivating their customers to vote for Rankin Pumkin.

The runner up said that although the competition provided “very nice exposure for her, she experienced it’s dark side. The artist said she received many racist comments from the audience, fellow contestants and even on of the judges of the competition; which she interpreted as them not wanting other citizens to be in the competition.

Kenny said that Rankin Pumkin’s statement was disheartening especially considering that she was a finalist in the competition. He was of the opinion that she had good camaraderie with people backstage and she didn’t go to anyo f the producers to report any information about ill-treatment or derogatory comments.
