Sunday, April 23, 2017 was the day many persons have been waiting on, and the end of what many say, a very successful carnival season. After many Friday night fetes and jouverts, Bacchanal Jamaica ended on a high with its annual carnival road march where revellers, soca junkies and spectators walk the roads of Kingston Jammin to soca tunes, dressed in fancy colourful feathers and gems ready to get on bad and have a good time.
With trucks lined up and ready to go from 10 a.m. many persons started the journey down hope road. After a quick rest stop at the Liguanea club, the revellers hit the streets again all geared up and ready to take on the stage. After which the party did not stop and the through halfway tree back new Kingston and returning to the Liguanea club at around 6 p.m. where many persons stayed, got dinner and enjoyed the after party which featured soca sensation, Kes.

Even though this year was extremely successful a video has been circulating of a man late yesterday evening in the middle of the streets and all the carnival festivities was arrested as he was seen walking around with a gun in his hand in the vicinity. Reports are that the man – identified as a local businessman – was seen parading with the gun along West Kings House Road and other sections of Half Way Tree minutes after he left a popular carnival party aiming and pointing at cars and persons passing in the streets. Alleged eyewitnesses said the man appeared to be drunk at the time.
It is not clear if anyone was harmed by the man. A senior officer from the St Andrew Central Police Division shared that they are aware of the incident and can confirm that the man was arrested and is currently being questioned at this time.
