Venus Williams breaks down at Press Conference4 min read

Venus Williams Breaks Down in Tears Over Fatal Car Crash During Wimbledon Press Conference.
Venus Williams is at a loss for words.
The 37-year-old tennis star broke down during a Wimbledon press conference on Monday, where she was asked about an auto accident she was involved last month in that claimed the life of Jerome Barson, a 78-year-old Florida man.
“I’m completely speechless,” the 5-time Wimbledon winner said before trailing off, and getting visibly distraught.
According to a police report obtained by TMZ, Williams was passing through the intersection where she was T-boned by a car driven by Barson’s wife.
Barson reportedly spent two weeks in the intensive care unit with head trauma leading up to his death. His wife, who reportedly suffered broken bones, survived.
CBS News reports that an attorney representing Barson has filed a lawsuit against Williams, after the Palm Beach Gardens police released a report suggesting that Williams was at fault for the accident.
Williams’ attorney, Malcolm Cunningham, told ET in a statement that Williams, “entered the intersection on a green light” when Mrs. Barson crashed into her. “Authorities did not issue Ms. Williams with any citations or traffic violations. This is an unfortunate accident and Venus expresses her deepest condolences to the family who lost a loved one.”
