Man accused of killing Dexter Pottinger denied bail4 min read

The man charged with the murder of fashion designer Dexter Pottinger was denied bail when he appeared in the St Andrew Parish Court this morning.

Twenty-one-year-old Romario Brown was charged two weeks ago for killing Pottinger.

Prosecutors told the court that they were still awaiting the results of a post-mortem to complete their case file. Brown is to return to court on November 9.

Pottinger’s decomposing body was found at his Yarico Place residence in St Andrew on August 31. The body had multiple stab wounds.

The police had reported that the murder weapon and a television were found at Brown’s Stony Hill residence.

The 21-year-old tattoo artist was out on bail for the killing of a woman in St Andrew last year.

That matter is pending before the Home Circuit Court.

In the meantime, Brown pleaded guilty this morning to a lesser charge of possession of an offensive weapon in court.
The court was told that he was found in possession of two knives on the night of August 29.

But, Brown told the presiding judge that he only had one knife in his possession. He was fined $3,000 or 10 days in prison.
He will be tried for possession of the second knife on November 9.
