Rapper Kendrick Lamar and his team are working and they just released a major announcement. Two weeks ago, Kendrick hinted that a Black Panther soundtrack was coming in his “Lovely” video, but now it’s been confirmed. According to reports, he was hand selected by the movie’s director Ryan Coogler.

A press release states that Lamar and partner Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith “will collaborate with Coogler directly in the creation of music specific to the needs of the film.” This is the first time that the rapper will write, produce, perform and curate for a major motion picture.

“Marvel Studios’ Black Panther has received high praises, from its cast to its director as the magnitude of this film showcases a great marriage of art and culture,” Lamar said in a statement. “I’m truly honoured to contribute my knowledge of producing sound and writing music alongside Ryan and Marvel’s vision.” All other details including the track listing have yet to be revealed, but persons seem to be excited about the collaboration.
