Summer Songs - Overkill?

There has been an increase in the number of Summer Songs and Summer inspired Riddims this year. But the question is..... are the artistes overdoing it? If summer songs have no shelf life after the summer is over, can they get their just attention during the few weeks of summer? Or are the producers wasting valuable production hours, melodies and content for the short window of summer?
