Dancehall selector Niko Chromatic, a member of the popular Chromatic sound system who has been battling renal failure, could get the help needed from a close family member and receive a lifesaving kidney. Sources stated that the relative wishes for it to remain silent and anonymous, but tests are now being carried out to see whether the kidney being offered by the relative is a match. The support has been coming in and so far US$22,000 has been raised on the medical GoFundme account as the efforts continue to push towards raising the US$50,000 needed for kidney transplant. Earlier this month, the selector had been hospitalised after suffering complications with the illness.

Niko’s girlfriend, Kimberly Mais shard that at the time that the entertainer was taken to the University Hospital of the West Indies for routine dialysis when a blocked catheter was discovered. An emergency surgery was required, but the operation wasn’t conducted until more than 12 hours after and as a result Niko lost a lot of blood. Even tthough Niko recently wrote a cryptic message on his official instagram page about those closest to him helping him which read “Who feels is knows it. Thank God to let me live to understand my surrounding. Somietimes its not the ones you expect.
